If you’re from Toronto and don’t know who any of the names in the title are, then you’re missing out.

I first heard of Mansion in November 2008 when I saw them open for The Bloody Beetroots at Wrongbar (shout out to Let’s Go To War as well for opening the show). To me they were complete unknowns but the crowd was rocking hard to the tracks they were playing and soon so was I.

I was sold. I became a fan. I tried to get a hold of whatever productions they had just so I can listen/spin them. One song though alluded me – “Gasaida”.

Well they had finally released the song via BeatPort in late August of 09 so I bought it. While being excited and waiting the release of their LP, they had separated and went their separate ways. Barletta was already doing his own production work outside of Mansion and Violca was working on her Wolfman project. I don’t know what led to the split and nor am I going to ask.

Either way I’m still a fan of both artists; Barletta recently released his Whisper EP and Violca recently put out a promo for her song Empire (with a remix done by Disco Villains).
