Now I have to be honest, I’ve known who he is but never really knew who he was.

I saw this because I have tonnes of remixes of his songs and have heard his name float around for a while now, but never took the initiative to actually explore who he is as an artist. Until I saw this video the other day :

Charles Smith, also known as Blaqstarr, is a jack of all trades (rapper, singer, DJ, producer). He’s one of those artists that you’d put together in the same category as Sa-Ra Creative Partners, where as artists they try to push the envelope of what people expect of them musically. He’s worked with such artists as M.I.A., Rye Rye, Diplo, DJ Sega, and Mos Def. He has even performed at the People’s Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C., one of the prime events before Barack Obama’s inauguration. I think that is a great feat for someone who started out as a DJ in the Baltimore scene.
